It took Attack Bear a while to make contact after a CDR containing some of what would become Finish Ships anonymously dropped into my letter box, but I'm very glad he/she/they did.
As far as I can gather, this is Attack Bear's debut set of recordings. The 12 tracks here buzz in a world of high end distorted detail with organic and unexpected chord changes. The beats are sometimes removed entirely, snares replaced with sighing synths that exhale like tired steam trains, hi hats are bleeps from an overloaded digital watch.
Reckno is very proud to be putting out these compositions, Autumnal drone and bleep with a nod to Moebius inspired 70's sc-fi.

Pretty much answers the question: what should you listen to on a lazy summer day spent watching waves lapping on the beach? You can hardly do better than strap on your best headphones and set this wonderful music on repeat. Works great too for non-summer days on a virtual beach.... JLP

Wow, what a journey. It simply doesn't get any better than this. This whole album is overflowing with the sort of high grade musicality that most musicians can only aspire to. The Sound of Durban is a perfect introduction to a new genre that's caught the ear of many DJs & electronic music producers around the world. This style is heavy hitting but not necessarily as dark as people may seem to think - more-so intense and rhythmic. I can see this dominating late night dancefloors as well as after hours parties where you want to keep the heat going and growing. I'm eager to hear more from artists in this genre as it expands and gains more of the notoriety it deserves. Ate Bit Boy
